The Pfeiffer Fund

The Pfeiffer Fund makes it possible for the University to award approximately $1.7 million in financial assistance to our Misenheimer students each year and assists in keeping the Charlotte experience affordable and accessible for working adults. It is through the Pfeiffer Fund that the University continues its long tradition of helping students, regardless of financial limitations, to pursue an education here. Many alumni and friends support the Pfeiffer Fund as a tribute to others who helped them follow their own dreams.

The benefit of your Pfeiffer Fund gift is immediate. Your contribution now will provide needed assistance for students this year. To make a gift or get more information, call the Advancement Office at 800-338-2060 ext. 6.

Endowment Gifts

Endowed gifts provide a special opportunity for contributors to provide for the present, as well as the future of Pfeiffer University. The principal of an endowment gift is invested by the University, and a portion of the annual interest earned is used to support the cause selected by the donor. The remaining interest earned is reinvested in order to grow the principal of the fund.

Endowed gifts to Pfeiffer take many forms, the most common of which is the endowed scholarship. Other types of endowed funds include professorships, lectureships and specific program endowments. Endowments can be established to support any campus cause, from maintenance to student activities.

Endowment gifts are often made by those with the deepest and broadest regard for the well-being of the University. An endowment gift made today will continue to benefit the University and its students, year after year. To talk with someone about the possibility of establishing an endowed fund, call the Advancement Office at 800-338-2060 ext. 6.

A Gift of Stock

An outright gift of appreciated marketable securities is one of the most attractive methods of realizing your charitable intentions toward Pfeiffer. Your gift of stock entitles you to an income tax deduction, and you do not incur capital gains tax on the transfer.

For securities held by you, send or deliver unendorsed certificates by first class mail along with a letter of transmittal giving your name, address, and the purpose of the gift. Under separate cover, mail to the same address a stock power executed in blank along with a copy of your letter of transmittal.

Should your securities be held by your bank or broker, ask the bank or broker to call the Advancement Office at 800-338-2060 ext. 6 for account transmittal information.

Giving Real Estate

An outright gift of unencumbered real estate may enable you to make a significant gift to Pfeiffer without incurring capital gains tax on the transfer of a highly appreciated asset. You may give your entire interest or fractional interest in the property. Call the Advancement Office at 800-338-2060 ext. 6 to learn of your tax benefits and to discuss the process of transferring property to the University.

Planned Giving

Often alumni and friends of Pfeiffer University wish to support the institution but for a variety of reasons choose to defer their gifts into the future. Through planned giving, donors are able to fulfill their philanthropic aspirations while retaining ownership and use of their property throughout their lifetime. Planned giving options such as bequests, charitable remainder and lead trusts, gift annuities, life insurance and retirement plans assure a donor’s financial security now and Pfeiffer’s later. There are often tax advantages as well.

At Pfeiffer, the 1885 Society recognizes individuals who make Pfeiffer a part of their estate plans either through their will or by naming Pfeiffer as the beneficiary of any of the planned giving instruments listed above.
